Yeah but it's misleading because from your point of view, you are "showing users relevant shows" but from most of our point of view, we look at the popularity score of MAL, and currently popularity score of monogatari series off and monster season is higher than shows such as exploration hero

it actually doesn't make any huge difference, but I wish there was a separate option which sorted by popularity score of mal and rating score of mal (which updated regularly according to the mal website) but it must be hard to implement

AnimeSchedule doesn't use MAL for any of its popularity or rating scores. It uses its own (how many registered users have added it to their anime list.) Things like different audiences (and a smaller one) are causing the mismatch between MAL and AnimeSchedule.

In other words, the popularity score in AnimeSchedule is a direct result of the users of the website.

The animes' popularity does update while airing, however the reason you don't see it move much is because popularity also includes people who have it in their "dropped" list (MAL also works this way: https://myanimelist.net/info.php?go=topanime.) This means that even if a show after 3 episodes gets dropped a lot, it'll still retain a high popularity.

I agree that that's a silly way of going about it since it doesn't reflect the actual current state of public opinion on a given show, so I'll think about replacing the timetable's "popularity" with a combination of user score (if it exists) and popularity without "dropped" entries. This should lead to a more dynamic and actual timetable order. However it'll still be limited by this website's userbase and audience size so it's unlikely to be perfect.

While on the topic of popularity, I also wanna ask about what the "Miscellaneous" section means.

"Most Popular" filters the most popular anime, but I don't really understand it's threshold. Like right now, it takes away a few anime and leaves 95% untouched.

"Anime list always visible" is the option that I have no idea what it does. Like I tried putting 1 anime to "watching" to see if it changed anything, but nothing changed.

"Most Popular" filters to roughly the top 90% popular anime in the timetable.

"Anime list always visible" means your anime list filters will take priority over any other filters you have (e.g. OVA only). This means you will always see anime in your anime list (or according to your anime list filters) regardless of your other filters.
