Osu!! Karate Bu was popular in Japan, but never really caught on in the West. It is still respected and wildly acclaimed as the best 'delinquent shonen manga', and has influenced many other works, and even been parodied by some (Cromartie High School is a loving parody of this particular series).

The comic story of Shizuka, the eldest daughter, who lives at home, showing no signs of getting married; her mother, who is both annoyed with Shizuka, and at the same time concerned about her window of eligibility; her sister Ikumi, with whom she gets along, even though they fight; and her father, who feels henpecked in this all-female household.

Sachiko is an unhappy girl who is very picky about food, which is why she doesn't get enough energy and performs poorly at school PE classes. One night, a white rabbit appears and takes her to the Land of the Moon. There, she meets a princess who looks exactly like her except that she is active, happy and healthy. This meeting inspires Sachiko to change her ways.
The story centers on a 10-year-old girl named Shirushi Nishizumi who lives in the city, and the alien she meets after it crash lands in Inzai. The alien needs "Aruaru Energy" to be able to power back up its spaceship.
